November 29 Pause on the Landing

Upstairs at Duroc invites you to a reading of Fiction and non-fiction in their series Pause on the Landing with writers Laurel Zuckerman, Martin Raim and Gary Lee Kraut. 

When: November 29, 2012, 7 PM

Where: Berkeley Books of Paris, 8 rue Casimir Delavigne, 75006 Paris, Metro Odéon.

LAUREL ZUCKERMAN is the author of Sorbonne Confidential (Fayard, 2007), a humorous and controversial account of her attempt to pass an elite exam for English teachers (agrégation) in the French public education system, and Professor Collie’s Barbarian Dreams (Fayard, 2009). Her essays and interviews have appeared in Hommes et CommercesCahiers PédagogiquesThe Paris TimesLe Point, Le MondeLe Monde de l’EducationThe GuardianThe Times, as well as on France 24, TF1, RFI, and the BBC. She is a dual national and graduate of the French business school HEC. Currently she is working on a short story collection about Arizona and editing Paris Writers News.

MARTIN RAIM, originally trained in mathematics, has worked in software development, Artificial Intelligence and teaching Computer Science. His short story The Cell was published in Something Else (Scott, Foresman & Co) and again under the title The Cage inSudden Twists (Jamestown Publishers). Upstairs at Duroc published his short story Between the Doors in 2011. American by birth, Martin has lived in France for 22 years and is currently working on a collection of non-fiction stories.

GARY LEE KRAUT is a Paris-based journalist, writer and editor. He is the author of 5 travel guides to France and Paris, including the critically acclaimed Paris Revisited: The Guide for the Return Traveler. He has also published numerous articles and essays concerning travel, culture, cross-culture and expatriate life. He is the recipient of FrancePress’s 1995 Prix d’Excellence for his guide to France published in the Fielding Guidebook Collection. Since January 2009 he has served as editor & principal journalist for the eclectic web magazine www.FranceRevisited.com.
